With 2800 buses, 50000 chairs, 3 CMs, Union and cabinet ministers Prime Minister Narendra Modi today kick started official campaign of BJP for Delhi elections at Ramlila Maidan. But everything was not hunky dory for the BJP this time.
According to the media reports turnout was one fourth of the expected. BJP was expecting the turnout of around 1 lakh people but in spite of proper arrangements in place, people called from nearby states BJP actually failed to get the same response which it got in states like Maharashtra, Haryana and Jharkhand due to weak opposition.
Mr. Modi accused Arvind Kejriwal for keeping the Delhi without government for an year. But I would like to ask Mr. Modi that he came to power in center over seven months ago, what took him so much of time to declare elections in DELHI?! If Mr. Modi is so much concerned about the government in state then why BJP and PDP has slowed down the process of government formation in Jammu and Kashmir and state is now under the Governor’s rule?
Yes, reason for both questions is Aam Aadmi Party but in a different way. Since seven months BJP was waiting for elections to happen in Haryana and Maharashtra and was expecting to fight Delhi elections on the wave of windfall wins in these states. Gven the popularity of Aam Aadmi Party, this plan of BJP seems to be failing now. BJP has wisely slowed down the process of government formation in Jammu and Kashmir because if it participates in the government it will have to put it’s two very important core promises of Article 370 and Uniform Civil Code on back burner as part of the backdoor negotiations. It will certainly hurt BJP’s core vote bank in Delhi benefiting Aam Aadmi Party and will become it’s biggest U turn till date.
Mr. Modi said Aam Aadmi Party is spreading lies every day. I would like to ask what has happened to black money, where is Lokpal, CIC? In Lok Sabha elections Mr. Modi promised to give Delhi full statehood but did not uttered a single word about it today. There are several sitting MPs of BJP facing serious criminal charges, all MPs in cabinet are also not clean. I suppose an U turn is not any superior to a lie.
In 49 days of Aam Aadmi Party government in DELHI corruption came to an standstill inarguably but I haven’t seen anything like that happening in the last seven months. BJP government talks about Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas but it has ruined the Land Acquisition Act through ordinance to appease the industrialists.
BJP slashed irrigation budget by 30 per cent and health budget by 20 per cent which is already one of the lowest in the world to meet fiscal target. Fiscal prudence is good but why at the cost of hampering the development and services of common man?
Arvind Kejriwal resigned abruptly that too for not being able to fulfill his major election promise of giving anti corruption Lokpal bill to Delhi, but he neither comprised on his ideology nor he ever tried to take a U turn on any of his poll promise.
Now it entirely depends on the people of Delhi whether they want to vote for positive work or for more rhetorics! I rest my case.
