The swashbuckling opener and one of my favourite batsman Virender Sehwag who redefined the way you open an innings whether in tests or one day announced retirement from all forms of game. This is not the way he deserves to get retire, but what to do now.
We often argue about who is the best finisher of game in contemporary times but Virender Sehwag was the only opener who used to finish the game in the first 20 overs itself. He was the only players who had the guts to hit sixes in 90s, 190s and 290s. Its Sehwag who taught India, how to score over 500 runs in a single day and win test matches by batting.
The way he conducted himself on and off the field, cool and calm; made him the coolest and greatest opening batsman of the world.
He is the only batsman who has scored triple century for India and has done it twice (One of them is the fastest triple century of the world).
Sports statistician Mohandas Menon tweeted some interesting facts about Virender Sehwag.
Sehwag has also given us many epic moments in his mind blowing cricketing career which are hard to forget.

He may have retired today but to replace him as the best Indian opener would be very difficult.
Sourav Ganguly, VVS Laxman, Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, Zaheer Khan and now Virender Sehwag. There aren’t too many reasons left for me to watch Cricket.
Thank you Sehwag for hitting fours and sixes so effortlessly, around the world. You will be missed big time!!
